PG near Padur or Kelambakkam? Consider Egattur on OMR
Padur and Kelambakkam are at the southern end of Chennai's OMR IT corridor, and many people moving to this side of the city search for a PG there. Before you decide, it is worth comparing them with Egattur, a little further north.
Where these places are
Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) runs south from the city. Going south, you pass Sholinganallur and Navalur, then Egattur, then SIPCOT IT Park in Siruseri, with Padur and Kelambakkam further on. Egattur sits between Navalur's shops and restaurants and the Siruseri IT campuses.
When Egattur is the better base
- You work at SIPCOT IT Park, Siruseri (TCS, Cognizant and other companies). Egattur is right next to it.
- You work in Navalur or further north on OMR. Egattur keeps that trip shorter too.
- You want shops and restaurants close by. Navalur is next door.
If your office is further south, Egattur is still on the same OMR route. Check the trip at your real office hours before deciding.
What to check in any PG on OMR
- Food: are three meals a day included?
- Rooms: sharing type, AC or non-AC, storage, bathroom.
- Total monthly cost: rent plus any extras.
- Safety: CCTV and a secure entrance.
- Reviews: recent Google reviews from current residents.
