How to choose the best PG in Chennai's OMR IT corridor
Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) runs through Chennai's IT corridor, from Sholinganallur and Navalur to Siruseri and Kelambakkam. There are hundreds of PGs along it, and the "best PG in Chennai" is really the one that fits your work, budget and routine. Use this checklist to compare them fairly.
1. Distance to your office
Measure the trip at your actual office hours, not on a Sunday. If you work in SIPCOT IT Park, Siruseri, look in Egattur, Navalur, Padur and Kelambakkam first.
2. Total monthly cost
Compare the full monthly amount: rent, food, electricity and any extra charges for AC, laundry or Wi-Fi. A cheaper rent can cost more once extras are added.
3. Deposit and notice period
Ask how much deposit is needed, how much notice you must give, and how quickly the deposit is returned.
4. Food

Single and double sharing give you privacy for calls and sleep after night shifts. Triple and four sharing keep costs down. See the actual room and bed you will get.
7. Cleanliness
Look at bathrooms, the kitchen and the corridors. Ask how often rooms are cleaned; daily housekeeping is a good sign.
8. Safety
CCTV around the clock, a secure entrance and good lighting outside matter, especially if you come back late.
9. Everyday essentials
Reliable water, hot water, Wi-Fi strong enough for video calls, a washing machine, a fridge and parking.
10. How problems are handled
Ask residents how quickly issues are fixed. Google reviews are a good place to check this.
